Private clinics suspended their strike planned for June 3 after receiving “commitments” from the state

Private hospitals have decided to suspend the strike planned for June 3 after receiving “commitments” and “decisions” from the government, the Federation of Private Hospitalization (FHP) said in a press release on Friday. This movement affected 1,030 private clinics and hospitals, employing more than 40 thousand doctors and independent specialists.

“The commitments and decisions taken by the government support the principle of fair treatment between the various stakeholders in hospitalization,” whether public or private, said a press release also signed by five liberal doctors’ unions (Avenir Spé-Le Bloc, CSMF). , UFML-S, SML, FMF), who joined this strike.

Overvaluation 0.3%

“All stakeholders, facilities and physicians take note of this progress but will remain extremely vigilant regarding the compliance and impact of all proposals for institutions and private practitioners,” the press release said.

Private clinics have not given up since the government announced an increase in hospital tariffs for 2024: they increased by 0.3% for private clinics and by 4.3% for public hospitals. According to the FHP, this difference resulted in a shortfall of approximately €500 million for private enterprises in 2024.

Five of the six liberal doctors’ unions – Avenirs Spé Le Bloc, CSMF, UFML, SML, FMF – supported the clinic movement and asked their members to deprogram their activities.

“This historic movement has strengthened the unity of our sector, which must remain an important and indispensable pillar of access to quality health care for all French people throughout the territory,” the press release concludes.

Liberal doctors, for their part, had difficult price negotiations with Health Insurance. As a result, a draft agreement was adopted last week, which trade unions must present to their bodies in the coming days. Health Insurance is hoping for an official signature next week.
