Wearing a mask is no longer compulsory in the city center

Good news for the inhabitants of Orleans (Loiret). From this Monday, wearing a mask is no longer compulsory in the city center. In question, “the very significant drop in the incidence rate on the metropolis of Orleans since mid-September”, explains the first deputy mayor of Orleans Florent Montillot to France Bleu Orléans.

The rules had already been relaxed by the prefecture since October 11: the mask is mandatory only on markets, fairs, flea markets, funfairs and garage sales, when the density is high.

A hundred verbalizations

Until now, Orleans was one of the last cities where the wearing of a mask was compulsory in the public space. It must still be worn in shops, buses and trams. This is “very good news” according to most of the townspeople. However, many of them assure that they were not aware of this previous obligation.

“We made some verbalizations, we did it when people were recalcitrant, contested the need to do so, refused to wear it and were in denial, refusal,” adds Florent Montillot. Since August, around a hundred verbalizations have taken place.
