If I could choose between the different sandwiches that are usually enjoyed in our country, my favorite is the turkey one. Yes, many may say that this meat is quite simple, but they have not tried the flavorful northern version. For this reason, when we discovered Los Clásicos, a northern family sandwich shop, we decided to venture out to try their menu and here we will tell you everything about this venture.

“Sánguches are my passion, I have always liked them,” says the creator of this brand, Alejandro Guevara, to Provecho. It is a family business in which they seek to rescue the northern recipes and the most classic of our country and elevate them with modern culinary techniques. The result? A selection of delicious sandwiches that are worth trying.

“Before founding El Merlín de Cabo Blanco (a fish and seafood restaurant), I had a sanguchería in my homeland, Piura. For this reason, I always stayed with that idea of ​​making people try the sandwiches that I liked so much”, recalls Guevara.

Thus, after months of testing recipes and achieving the quality and flavor they were looking for, Los Clásicos began operations as a dark kitchen in October of last year.

Here you will find everything from the simple but well-made bread with chicken to a unique version of the roasted turkey sandwich. All accompanied with the unmissable French fries, fried sweet potato, coleslaw or a generous portion of homemade chifles from Piura.

Piura tradition

As we mentioned, the menu is made up of a selection of options that pay homage to the most classic sandwiches of our gastronomy, but it also includes some options that honor the northern roots of the owner and founder.

The pork rind is delicious, well cooked, soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. The chicken one, unlike other versions, is quite juicy and mixed with the house mayonnaise is a must. The roasted one has a balanced and very Creole taste that we loved.

The classicsWithout a doubt, it specializes in turkey sandwich and they have two options, one more succulent than the other. The classic is the Creole turkey, which consists of pieces of the bird marinated under vacuum with chicha from Piurana jora and ají panca (among other little secrets). Our favorite on the menu is the shredded turkey, which consists of the same juicy shredded meat mixed with zarza criolla and the house mayonnaise. A different version of a classic that we can assure you will love.

All the options have in common a French bread that is crispy on the outside and that keeps the juices of the filling well concentrated, very practical and delicious. They are served with lettuce that is really fresh and a well prepared onion bramble, it all depends on what you order.

For a good breakfast, they also have options such as the classic criollo tamalito or chicharrón by weight, depending on your taste.

The unmissable turkey with noodles.

As a good brand created by people from Piura, they offer two curiosities that are very classic in northern gastronomy: the turkey with noodles and the portion of turkey with chifles. Both are delicacies that are easily found in Piura, but they are more difficult to find in our capital.
