Anyone who comes to visit Peru knows that they will find a varied and exquisite gastronomy. What’s more, many tourists book their flights planning a route exclusively to eat, and Lima is the best destination for it. The Taste Atlas portal, famous for preparing gastronomic rankings that often generate debate on social networks, presented the 2023 edition of its list of the best cities in the world to try local food and Lima was ranked third.
In the aforementioned list, the referred medium invites trips to explore the city’s markets “to find the freshest cebiche, often prepared in front of you.” And you are also encouraged to make a selection of 5 spaces to find the best dishes of gastronomy. Unlike other rankings, this one tries to bring the diner closer to local food, without thinking about “Michelin stars, Instagram likes or very high prices”.
Among its recommendations, Taste Atlas highlights 5 snacks that must be tried while passing through Lima:
- sausage
- Salchipapas
- Cebiche
- Barbecue
- chicken chili
And in his selection of gastronomic spaces in Lima, he highlights places located in districts such as La Victoria, San Isidro, Barranco, Miraflores and Pueblo Libre.
The places chosen are Mi Barrunto, famous for its marine proposal. Also the Antigua Taberna Queirolo e Isolina, a tavern located in Barranco and run by chef José del Castillo.
Other alternatives mentioned by the portal are Panchita and Astrid & Gastón.
The portal also includes in its ranking a link that displays other restaurants that are better valued by its users. Among them are: Rafael, El Bodegón, Osaka, Huaca Pucllana, Punto Azul, La Rosa Náutica, La Picantería, La Mar and Cumpa.
