The 10 best vegan restaurants in Lima, according to the Somos 2023 Awards

Plant-based food is full of creativity, color and flavor. So far there is not a dish that chefs have not been able to reinvent with 100% plant-based inputs. In the We Are Awardsthe gastronomic trophies organized by the newspaper El Comercio, offered for the first time a category that celebrates the best of vegan food in Lima.

Among the awards that were given at the ceremony, the one for the Best Vegan Restaurant in Lima category stood out.

What is the best vegan restaurant in Lima, according to the Somos 2023 Awards?

The Somos Awards are distinguished from other awards for being awarded by popular vote. The vegan restaurant with the most votes in this category was Namasté, considered the best vegan restaurant in Lima at the 2023 Somos Awards.

Namasté is born from love and the experience of a life always related to cooking. The four Velit sisters, who have cooked and been vegetarian since they were little, decided to open a restaurant in Ravine in which they share their philosophy of life and good food.

Mayra, co-founder and who leads Namasté’s kitchen, narrates that she and her sisters with their restaurant are looking for “unite the family”. “That’s what we lived as girls. Half vegetarian family, half omnivorous family. So at family gatherings, since there were more vegetarians, we cooked vegetarian for everyone. Our family gatherings revolved around food, as in many Peruvian families. My grandfather was a great cook, he always instilled in us a love of cooking (…) The slogan of Namásté is to unite the family, and generate a similar flavor that reminds them of home”comment.
