Casa Lola: the cafeteria that was born out of a craving for granola and today offers a varied proposal

The founder of this space is Mali Giha Muro, a chef by profession, who decided to start a small granola business after having spent 10 years abroad. “It all started with a personal craving to eat granola and that is how the Lola Granola brand emerged. As it grew, I had to rent a small place and we started to produce more products,” she explains.

During the pandemic, they managed to overcome difficult times and the brand was able to continue growing. “At that time we considered getting a new space and we found this beautiful house. At first the plan was for it to be a space for the workshop, offer the granola, some products and that’s it, but I decided to cover more with the proposal,” says the creator of Casa Lola.

With very good judgment, they have tables in two rooms on the first level and tables on the second level. The space, which is pet friendly, also has a small terrace outside the premises. It is cozy, it always smells delicious thanks to the desserts or coffees that are prepared and the public is a combination of local residents and visitors or tourists.

The Pink Latte is a delicious hot drink that does not include caffeine.

According to Mali, who with very good judgment selects the dishes we tasted during our visit, the idea of the menu is to be comfort food, that is, homemade food that can be enjoyed all day. “In addition to that, we propose a series of dishes that are ideal for brunch and can be enjoyed at any time,” he says.

The croissants can be filled with ham and cheese or manjarblanco.

Brunch feast

We start by tasting a chapla bread with melted cheese, an option that is difficult to find in the area and that combines perfectly with the matcha latte. This green tea-based drink is one of the best versions we have tried thanks to the quality of the ingredients and the almost creamy foam. In the case of chaplitethey also have a version with vegan cheese and pesto that we recommend.

Andean chaplita includes cheese and oregano in a delicious chapla bread. It goes very well with cappuccino.

One of the best combinations of the visit were the half moons stuffed with ham and cheese, a tasty bite, sweet and salty in just the right measure. He cappuccino It is also recommended to accompany this filling and delicious sandwich. When it comes to Instagram-worthy options, they have a pink latte that deserves to be photographed and enjoyed.

The most filling sandwich we enjoyed was the sausage, with a large amount of country ham, lettuce, Creole sauce and a crusty French bread. It is perfect to share so you can enjoy other options.

The sausage includes a generous amount of country ham.

As for the sweet touch of the visit, we enjoyed two options: a oatmeal bowl and some french toast. The first is served warm, with milk (which can be changed to a vegetable one), red fruits such as strawberries and blueberries, and homemade granola.

The touch of honey on top of French toast is ideal.

The second, the french toast, are a slightly more decadent option in the best of ways and a treat worth indulging in. They are based on a soft and sweet brioche that combines with the red fruit jelly and vanilla cream that it is accompanied with. A succulent combination of textures and temperatures.
