Given the UK property market, owning a home seems out of reach for many. And with rental prices continuing to rise, it’s only natural to look elsewhere and even toy with the idea of ​​a digital nomad lifestyle, right?

However, this is a reality for many as international migration has increased steadily over the past thirty years, with an estimated 281 million people living in a country other than their country of birth in 2020. In 1990 there were 128 million – the equivalent of 3.6 million people. % of the total world population.

Now, a new survey from financial services firm Remitly has revealed the cities around the world where people most dream of moving.

The number one destination may come as a surprise, though, and no, it’s not London or New York.
