These are the 10 best bakeries in Lima, according to the Somos Awards

Baking is an art that not everyone can master. Baking crispy, crumbly bread requires technique. Therefore, everyone has their favorite bakery to go to for Sunday breakfast. In the first edition of the Somos Awards, the gastronomic awards of “El Comercio”, more than 40 categories were awarded, including best bakery.

According to the Somos 2023 Awards, the best bakery in Lima is Pan de la Chola.

Jonathan Day, industrial engineer, simply wanted to eat good bread. That need led him to travel and investigate and then open the first El pan de la chola location in 2011.

Their secret is simple: they only use flour, water and salt. A combination that allows them to create crunchy sesame and linseed, raisin and pecan breads, among others. A special point is its pastry section, where its biscuits, its pear tartlet and banana, carrot and apple sponge cakes take on special prominence.
