Cravings on Caminos del Inca Avenue: 5 proposals that you should try if you are in Surco

At first glance it may not seem like it, but the busy Av. Caminos del Inca hides multiple and delicious spaces where you can sit at the table. Cebicherias, sangucherías, huariques, Nikkei and Spanish cuisine, pizzas, desserts and a long etcetera are part of that list to visit. On this occasion, Provecho presents a brief gastronomic route of this avenue in Surco: from delicious anticuchos to Spanish-inspired cuisine. Let us be surprised.

The dream of Brandon Altamirano, named the best anticuchero in Peru after his time on a reality show, was to open his own store and set up a franchise. Little by little he is achieving it. In Surco, he opened his third location where he keeps the grill on along with his obsession with the good taste of anticuchos (classic, chicken and pork). On his menu we also find corn with cheese, anticucheras sweetbreads, Bran snack (includes mixed choncholí, pancita, rachi, anticuchos and parboiled potatoes) and desserts such as cookie cake or flipped cream. A special point are their huancopa, rocoto and huacatay chili sauces (how delicious they are spicy!).

Spanish seasoning is the common thread of this space that resurfaced in 2020. Paella is undoubtedly the star dish and perfect to share (at least) between two people. Keep in mind that there is a 40-minute wait, but that will be the opportunity to try other dishes such as Galician-style octopus, Spanish tortilla, garlic chicken, Madrid-style tripe, Segovian-style suckling pig and much more. Be careful, the gastronomic repertoire also makes room for more fusion touches such as a lomo saltado fideuá. Ask about the wines by the glass, there will always be something special to toast.

In the background, the classic saltado – choose between rump, chicken, flat iron or veggie – is always among the top 3 favorites.
