What is an author letter for breakfast like? We discover the tasty proposal of La Niña

March is a month of celebration for Andrés Orellana and the team of The girl. On the 19th, they celebrated their first anniversary – in their beautiful Miraflores mansion a stone’s throw from the Huaca Pucllana – celebrating with friends such as Colombians Laura Hernández Espinosa and Juan Pablo Castiblanco (La Sala de Laura), Gabriela León and Alonso Palomino (Lady Bee ) and Jorge Muñoz. The memories of what we experienced are happy: participation in the World Class cocktail competition, the different pop ups (both at home and on trips abroad) and, the cherry on the cake, the visit of the gastronomic icon Ferran Adrià.

NEW EXPERIENCES

“It was a feeling of dreaming again. A gift […] It allowed us to give ourselves a shake and tell ourselves ‘great things are coming’. He gave us a few small words of encouragement,” Orellana recalls.

And new experiences come to La Niña. Recently, the restaurant launched its breakfasts, which involved creating a new menu, a new service and expanding hours. This product, along with Pizza de La Niña, allows them to have a balance. “This whole romantic part of the restaurant is beautiful, but there is a business part that also needs to be covered. We have explored it, we have learned to know how to handle it and we like it because they are challenges that you get involved in on a daily basis,” explains the chef.

SITTING AT THE BREAKFAST TABLE

And what is breakfast like at La Niña? Find a long table (for all the family and friends) preferably on the cool terrace. Good flavor, variety and abundance are the main characteristics. Let’s follow the chef’s advice: “we don’t recommend one dish but rather two or three.” Here there is something to satisfy everyone’s cravings: salty and sweet, traditional Peruvian sandwiches and classic dishes from abroad, coffees and juices.

Hard to pick a favorite; But if it’s sandwiches, don’t miss the roast beef (perfect for sharing) or the classic bread with sausage. Among the egg dishes, we choose the benedictines (with a mild hollandaise sauce) and the huachana sausage (which comes with toast).

Craving sweets? You can go from French toast (with seasonal fruits), kekes (banana or carrot), a chocolatey brownie or a fresh tiramisu. To drink, there are the classic espresso and slow bar drinks (with specialty coffees from Bisetti, from Villa Rica) as well as eight juices or a new one if you propose making your own combination.

If you’re looking for a vegetarian option, there’s the peasant capresse (mozarella delight), the potato omelette, or the sourdough toast with sautéed mushrooms and guacamole sauce. You can find all this (and more) at the same location or through Rappi. “We have a tasty signature menu for breakfast, so to speak. It’s as if a chef you like is cooking for you at home,” he says.

BRAINSTORM

In front of the well-laid table, Andrés Orellana is launching new ideas. A La Niña brunch – with his signature characterized by the use of local ingredients and Peruvian flavors – and at a fixed price is something that is on his mind. “You have to design the product well, make it attractive and I think that, if you push it, something good can be achieved,” he predicts. Meanwhile, for May he is already announcing a new tasting menu. The reasons to celebrate continue. And many more years to come!
