Peru took two medals! 7 Vidas is winner of the 2024 World Beer Cup

Peru is champion in the world of beers. The 7 Vidas brewery won two medals in the World Beer Cup competition, which annually awards the best of these drinks and is commonly known as “the beer Olympics.”

The Peruvian brand took two medals: gold (for its rosé brut version) and silver (for breakfast oatmeal stout). In this way, it manages to position itself as the most awarded brewery in Latin America and one of the best globally.

“Achieving the first two medals for Peru and becoming world champions is a historic fact. In addition to finishing consolidating ourselves as the most awarded Latin American brewery in recent years,” commented Marco Málaga, founding partner and brewmaster of 7 Vidas.

7 Vidas is a craft brewery, with roots in Tacna, that has received more than 40 medals in national and international cups. Each year, they feature seasonal beverages exceeding 40 different beers per year, in a variety of categories. They consider that the World Beer Cup medals are the “result of years of intense work, innovating with our recipes, exploring local ingredients and improving our processes to the maximum to achieve being among the world’s beer elite,” added Málaga.

ROSÉ BRUT: ABV: 6.5% IBU: 10

New beer in the style of Italian grape ales, but with a twist that makes it unique. It is made with Muscat of Alexandria grape must, from Tacna vineyards. To give it the pink color, blueberries were used. The aroma is very fruity (wine, blueberries and blackberries). The flavor is vinous and fruity, with low bitterness and light body. The result is a fruity but very dry beer.

BREAKFAST OATMEAL STOUT: ABV: 8.6% IBU: 40

Robust beer made with one of the best Peruvian specialty coffees and roasted especially by Dark Academia Coffee. In addition, it presents large quantities of cocoa nibs from the central jungle. In appearance, it is a deep black color. In aroma it has notes of espresso coffee, dark chocolate and slight toasted nuts. In flavor there is a medium bitterness, full and creamy body, intense and clean coffee flavor.

Breakfast Oatmeal Stout took silver medal at World Beer Cup.

The World Beer Cup was born in 1996 by the US Brewers Association to celebrate the art and science of brewing beer. In the last edition, held in April, 2,060 breweries from 50 countries participated with more than 9,300 samples.
