Dalgona candy: learn how to prepare the sweet from “The Squid Game” in 10 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 tbsp sugar
  • A pinch of baking soda (or one-eighth teaspoon, to be more precise)

Utensils:

Before you start preparing the dessert, make sure you have all the ingredients and utensils on hand. Being a sweet with caramel, which hardens quickly, being well organized will be very important for the final result:

  • A stainless steel ladle
  • A sheet of greased parchment paper
  • A skillet or small saucepan (to crush the mixture), to form a circular.
  • A wooden or metal toothpick to mix the sugar
  • A metal cookie cutter in the shape of your choice. Those in “The Squid Game” are the umbrella, the star, a circle and a triangle.

preparation:

Turn the stove on to low heat and put the stainless steel ladle on top. Pour in the tablespoon and a half of sugar for the first dalgona cookie. Spread the sugar with the wooden or metal toothpick and do not move until the sugar begins to melt.

Once you notice that the sugar begins to melt, move non-stop. To avoid burning, remove the ladle from the heat at times and return it to the grill.

When the sugar has completely melted (and looks like the gif below), add the baking soda. Once you add this ingredient, you should beat faster.

Once mixed, immediately pour it onto the parchment paper, fold the paper, and press down with a pan or saucepan with a circular shape or base.

Finally, press the middle with the cookie cutter to print the shape you want.
