El Pichito, Amazonian food

With the appetite already awake and the spirits to the full, the first place we visited was El Pichito, a space that offers food from the Peruvian jungle. This business has been in the gastronomic sector for 29 years with stores in Breña, La Molina and Lince, and it has just celebrated its first anniversary at Mercado La Colonial.

In the gastronomic patio, El Pichito presents a shorter menu, in which it offers rolls and also traditional dishes. Upon arrival we were greeted by Fernando Arévalo, chef and owner of this place, who prepared us the most requested dish by his clients in Callao: the Amazonian burrito, whose main ingredients are corn tortilla, jerky, Amazonian beans and avocado strips. Mayonnaise made with cocona sauce is added to the preparation. The dish is served with chifles or yuccas finely cut and fried.

“We also offer tacacho with jerky, chaufa rice with jerky, salted noodle with jerky, juane”says Arevalo.

Drinks such as uvachado, cocona pepper and snacks from the Amazon such as chifles and fried yuccas are also sold at the stall. At El Pichito, the dishes on the menu range from 10 to 50 soles.

The driver of Embarcadero 41

After enjoying the Amazonian burrito, we advanced some positions and arrived at El carretillero de Embarcadero 41.

“It is a concept made for this type of space such as Mercado La Colonial. The brand has been in the market for 20 years, but we opened this concept during the pandemic and the neighbors have responded very well “says Jorge Wong, Embarcadero 41 marketing manager.
