The mayor consults before giving his sponsorship for the presidential election

To determine which candidate for the presidential election he was going to sponsor, the LR mayor of Bry-sur-Marne (Val-de-Marne) Charles Aslangul decided to rely on direct democracy. He announced on Tuesday the launch of a citizen consultation. This aims to decide between Marine Le Pen, Eric Zemmour and Jean-Luc Mélenchon.

Cleaver March 4

The city councilor will sponsor one of them, explains Actu Val-de-Marne. These candidates are indeed having difficulty gathering the 500 sponsorships needed by March 4 to stand for election. Charles Aslangul spoke of a “sponsorship scandal”.

The mayor of Bry-sur-Marne said in a press release that “an unprecedented democratic crisis is upon us. […] It is unthinkable that these candidates who, in opinion studies, represent several million French people each, cannot compete”. The consultation takes the form of an online survey on Twitter. The result will be announced on Thursday.
