Perfect equality between the two candidates in two municipalities of Bas-Rhin

A “first step of the podium” that it shares this Monday morning with another city in Bas-Rhin, Schirmeck, a city which granted exactly 496 votes for Emmanuel Macron and 496 votes for Marine Le Pen in the second round.

In Blancherupt, the 46 citizens registered on the electoral roll of the town located in the Bruche Valley in Alsace all voted. Result, 50% for each of the two candidates (15 votes each). And it is not the abstention rate, estimated at 25.53% (which is lower than the national average) nor the invalid or blank ballots (five votes), which have changed the situation. A “perfect” balance already incredibly achieved during the first round. On April 10, the small village had already achieved the feat of distributing its votes “equitably” with 24.24% for Emmanuel Macron and Jean-Luc Mélenchon this time, Marine Le Pen reaching 18.18 in this first round. % voices.

“Other Concerns”

Is the village therefore split in two? “It’s a bit like what is happening, the state of mind of the country answers Sophie Krouch. I don’t pretend to say that we are representative, but that’s still a bit of what’s happening, isn’t it? The country is increasingly divided over governance. This leaves a little dubious. »

But for now, the small village acknowledges having other concerns than talking about this score. “Each respects the opinion of the other, we are democratic in Blancherupt, smiles the mayor. Our concern is to move forward, repair our church which is experiencing electricity problems, moreover we are looking for funds, and maintain our forest which really needs it… We do not have the same concerns than elsewhere”, jokes the mayor.
