The government seeks above all to obtain a structural reduction in energy prices on a European scale, but the Prime Minister specified that it was “essential to give visibility to all the players”. “Our companies and our communities could not wait,” says Elisabeth Borne.

This new aid will not widen the deficit, assures the head of government. Of the 12 billion planned, nearly 7 billion in aid will come from “annuities” levied on energy companies as part of an exceptional tax.
