Reshuffle: who is Marie Lebecq, the new minister for relations with parliament?

She is also a figure of the younger generation. Marie Lebeck, who is only 33 years old (a year younger than Gabriel Attal), was appointed this Thursday evening as Minister for Relations with Parliament. A function in which the Yvelines Renaissance MP will succeed Franck Riester, who has held the position since the summer of 2022.

This is the very first portfolio of the parliamentarian and first vice-president of the Renaissance group in the National Assembly since 2019 after serving as its representative. Originally from Louveciennes (Yvelines), Marie Lebecq, who first campaigned under the UMP flag, was first and foremost a walker from the very beginning.

This IEP Bordeaux graduate specializing in lobbying experienced a meteoric rise during the 2017 legislative elections under the banner of Emmanuel Macron. She then overthrew Gilcen Fournier, then mayor (LR) of Chatou, and became the big favorite to succeed Pierre Lekiller in the 4th electoral district (Chatou, Houille, Louveciennes, Marly-le-Roi). She was only 26 years old at the time, one of the youngest elected officials in the House. “Youth is part of the DNA of the Renaissance. This is a party that trusts young people,” she likes to emphasize.

“This is the ministry I was hoping for.”

Six years later, Marie Lebecq, media of the first mandate, appears as a confirmed deputy. In particular, she came into contact in 2023 to defend the pension reform carried out by the Bourne government.

It has also worked well locally. His result in the June 2022 legislative elections was clear. The future minister won with 65.69% of the votes against Nupes candidate Celine Bourdon.

“I am honored by the confidence placed in me by the Prime Minister and the President of the Republic,” she responded this Thursday evening. I’m very happy because this is exactly the service I was hoping for. This is an extremely strategic position. I have worked closely with Frank Riester for four months and hope to demonstrate that I can rise to the parliamentary storm. »

Close to Gabriel Attal, she says she “fully supports” him. “And it’s important for him to have a minister he trusts,” she concludes. When the prime minister was appointed on January 9, she said she was “proud to continue the fight” against him.
