Disagreeing with the immigration law, MP Yannick Favennec-Beko leaves the Horizons group and moves to Lyot.

The passage of the immigration law was the last straw. An MP associated with the Horizons group, Yannick Favennec-Beko, announced on Friday his withdrawal from the group associated with Edouard Philippe due to disagreements over pension reform and immigration law, he explained in an interview with Ouest-France.

“I always support Edward Philippe and the president, however,” the deputy emphasized, “I have a guarantee of preserving my values. »

“The starting point was pension reform. “judged” him. Then he publicly expressed his doubts about the bill.

“I decided to leave”

In December, a deputy member of the president’s camp voted against the immigration bill in a version released by a joint committee that leaned heavily to the right due to compromises made to Republicans. “Of course we must regulate tightly, but also humanely. The text that came out of the National Assembly spoke only of firmness. That’s why I voted against it. And I made a decision to leave, which will take effect on Monday,” he explained.

He announced that he was joining Lyot’s independent parties, made up of elected officials from the left, right and overseas MPs, which was confirmed by an inside source in the group. Under the previous legislature, Yannick Favennec-Bécot had for some time been part of the former Liberties and Territories group, which included current Lyot members, including President Bertrand Pancher.

Following the violent passage of the immigration law in the Assembly, Finistère MP Jean-Charles Larsoneur has already left the Horizons group to sit among the undocumented. “This text destroys dams” and “leads to a very dangerous slope for the country,” he justified himself.
