Reshuffles: leaving with your head held high, the words of Amelie Oudea-Caster during the transfer of power

Its fate was more than compromised after numerous controversies, especially related to public schools. Emmanuel Macron and Gabriel Attal made a decision this Thursday: Amélie Oudea-Castera is no longer Minister of National Education, but retains her post in the field of sports, and the Olympic Games are in her plans. This Friday morning, on the Rue de Grenelle, there was a transfer of power to his successor: the former Minister of Justice Nicole Belloubet. “Thank you for never doubting who I really was, my values, despite what you may have read or heard,” Amelie Udea-Castera told her ministry teams during the highly anticipated speech.

She believes she is leaving Rue de Grenelle “more experienced than ever” and with her “head held high.” She claims she “was on a mission despite the storm.” The former high-level athlete said she was “delighted” with her successor, to whom she sent “congratulations.” “You embody experience, competence. Your human abilities will allow you to lead the roadmap set by the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister to improve the standard of our students and contribute to their development,” said Amelie Udea-Castera.

The now former Minister of National Education thanked “the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister for their renewed trust” on the issue of “sports” and those who “embody” it. “Together we will work hard, very hard to create great games that highlight all that our country has to offer,” the sports minister insisted.

“The courage and determination of Amelie Oudea-Caster”

In her first words, the new president of Rue Grenelle, Nicole Belloubet, “welcomed the courage and dedication of Amélie Oudea-Caster in this ministry.” “We are women involved in political life, which can sometimes be brutal,” she added. Nicole Belloube said she had “rediscovered her natural environment”, she is a professor of law at the university, but above all, the former rector of Limoges and then of Toulouse.

The new Minister of National Education wants to “act again and again” in the service of schools, which “must be our great ambition as it prepares the future of our country.” “We must do everything we can to create a system that reduces social inequality,” said Nicole Belloube, who said schools “should not expel students because of failure.” For her, the school is “the place of birth and daily revival of the Republic.” Nicole Belloube said that to fulfill her mission, she wanted to “establish a dialogue as soon as possible” with teachers.

After announcing the continuation of his rule, Gabriel Attal reacted on Thursday evening to his decision to demote Amelie Oudea-Castera on France 2. The prime minister acknowledged the “concerns and discomfort” but praised his “total commitment.” On X (formerly Twitter)the latter “thanked the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister” for “their trust” to “continue [sa] mission in the service of sport, the Olympic and Paralympic Games.” “I congratulate Nicole Belloube on her appointment and wish her great success as head of the Ministry of National Education,” she also wrote.
