The online complaint, tested in the Gironde since December, will be rolled out across France from next summer, Emmanuel Macron said on Friday during a trip to Bordeaux.
“This will radically simplify the lives of our compatriots, our police officers and gendarmes,” the head of state greeted after participating in a demonstration at the city police headquarters.
Three and a half million eligible complaints
The system announced in 2021 by the head of state concerns only the simplest cases – attacks on property (theft, vandalism, breach of trust or even fraud, including on the Internet). This will only be possible in cases where the complaint is made against X, that is, when the author is not identified.
“Out of a total of three and a half million complaints per year, two million are entitled to this simplified procedure,” said Emmanuel Macron. This is being done in complete security, with full respect for confidentiality, and will allow us to organize our work much better and therefore have even more police and gendarmes on the ground.”
Starting next summer, the system will be extended to the entire territory, as well as the “video complaint”, which is currently being tested in several departments, including Sarthe, the Head of State added.
