National Assembly: Vincende deputy expelled from the Republican group after he supported Edouard Philippe

The meeting was scheduled for 11:15 am this Wednesday at the National Assembly. The deputy (LR) for the Rhône, Alexandre Vincende, was summoned to the offices of the Les Républicains group at the Palais Bourbon before deciding whether he would be expelled. Now it has been done: by a vote of 10 to 2, right-wing deputies decided that he will no longer officially be among them.

The day before, the former mayor of Rillier-la-Pape (Rhône), elected in the Palais-Bourbon since 2022, held an explanation that was called “muscular” with the leader of the deputies of the LR, Olivier Marlet. For several months now, the behavior of the 40-year-old deputy has been internally annoying. This is because he demonstrated and declared support for former Prime Minister Edouard Philippe, leader of the Horizons party, ahead of the 2027 presidential elections. Laurent Vauquier for the next race at the Elysee Palace.

A line considered compatible with Macron.

Alexandre Vincende never hid this support and continued to confirm that Vauquier had failed to win the right at the end of this five-year term. At the same time, we note that the latter has not yet been officially appointed as a candidate from the Republic of Latvia. This close friend of Jean-François Copé, who has been considered compatible with Macron since the start of his five-year term, condemned the “witch hunt” on Tuesday, recalling that he had always respected the group’s rules, which in particular guaranteed its members “freedom of expression and voting ” In the Republic of Latvia, we consider it incompatible to sit within a group and defend a direct competitor in the presidential election, although he was in its ranks until 2017.

For Republicans, caught since 2017 between macroonists and lepenists, who both seek to strangle the right, accepting the possibility of supporting a candidate who is not a representative of the Republic of Latvia is tantamount to an implicit admission that the successor party of the RPR and SMP is no longer capable of playing leadership roles and is doomed play the role of subordinates. And they couldn’t accept it.
