Perennial pollutants: The National Assembly adopts in the first reading a law to limit their spread

Deputies adopted this Thursday in the first reading a law aimed at limiting the spread of perpetual pollutants. These chemicals are found in non-stick pans and even in some cosmetics.

However, the text approved by the Assembly this Thursday excludes kitchen utensils from its scope, following the active mobilization of manufacturers this week. This Wednesday, the demonstration was carried out by employees of the Seb group, which, in particular, owns the Tefal brand.

The text was approved unanimously: 186 votes in favor and zero against, despite government opposition on a number of points. The main article, presented by environmentalist Nicolas Thierry, plans to ban, from January 1, 2026, the production, import and sale of any cosmetic products, wax products (for skis) or textile clothing containing per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, with the exception of protective clothing. for security and civil safety professionals.
