A few weeks before the European elections, Jordan Bardella and Valerie Heyer, heads of the National Rally (RN) and Renaissance lists, respectively, held a debate this Thursday evening on BFMTV. After an initial half hour devoted to current issues such as youth hyperviolence or pro-Palestinian mobilizations on several Science-Po campuses, the two candidates discussed the topic of Ukraine.
“The president’s position is dangerous,” said Jordan Bardella, citing the words of Emmanuel Macron, who confirmed this Thursday that he does not rule out “sending French troops to Ukraine under certain conditions.”
“I look at your votes in the European Parliament. You have never supported Ukraine,” replied Valerie Hayer. “War is serious, madam, and not resolutions that are voted on without leaving the half-cycle,” replied the head of the RN list.
