The Nice prosecutor’s office has opened a new investigation into the theft of public funds aimed at Republican President Eric Ciotti during his campaign for the 2022 legislative elections, according to information from franceinfo confirmed by the Nice prosecutor’s office to Le Parisien this Monday.
According to the Nice prosecutor, the investigation was launched on May 31 and assigned to the Nice judicial police.
This is stated in a message from a representative of the anti-corruption association Antikor. The latter was himself a candidate in the 2022 legislative elections, but from a different constituency in the Alpes-Maritimes.
According to a letter from local group Anticor, consulted by Le Figaro newspaper, the report concerns the free use of parking cards near Eric Ciotti’s office in the port, provided by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Eight people, including the outgoing MP, would benefit from this, especially during the 2022 campaign.
Two investigations have already been opened
This is the third investigation against the outgoing deputy of the Republic of Latvia. Another preliminary investigation into embezzlement of public funds was opened in January on suspicion of concurrent employment on the department’s board.
Finally, in November, the National Prosecuting Authority also opened an investigation into the positions held by his ex-wife Caroline Man.
