The deputy Benoit Simian summoned before the criminal court for “harassment” on his wife

It’s a new twist. The deputy of the Gironde, Benoit Simian, has just received a summons to appear before the Criminal Court of Bordeaux for alleged facts of “harassment” on his wife, according to information from
Mediapart. The hearing is scheduled for March 24. The Bordeaux prosecutor’s office had opened an investigation “for moral harassment by spouse” in 2020, against the background of the divorce of the Simian spouses.

At the time, the courts had also requested the lifting of this parliamentary immunity to hear the former deputy LREM, now affiliated to the parliamentary group Freedoms and Territories, under police custody. A request rejected by the National Assembly. The investigation site reports that Benoit Simian was heard again under the free hearing regime on Wednesday. It was following this hearing that he received this summons before the criminal court.

He always denied the facts

The deputy for Gironde is notably accused of having defied an order to protect his wife. The former mayor of Ludon-Médoc would also have multiplied malicious acts against his wife, according to the latter. “He tagged the mailbox, stole the trash, smashed cameras. He listened to us, he observed us. He was there all the time, from morning to night, ”testified this woman at the RTL microphone a year ago. According to Mediapart, it is also said to have suffered “water and electricity supply cuts”.

Faced with this situation, Ms. Simian had been equipped with a Telephone Grave Danger, a box that helps fight against domestic violence. On February 23, 2021, the Bordeaux Court of Appeal decided to further strengthen its protection, after the filing of new complaints and handrails. The magistrates had extended the period of application of measures to protect the deputy’s wife from six months to the entire period of the divorce. For his part, Benoit Simian has always denied the facts, and also filed a complaint against his wife for violence.
