Marcelo Martins in the preview of Bolivia vs. Chile: “We are prepared for whatever comes”

Striker Marcelo Martins Moreno assured this Monday that Bolivia is aware that the match against Chile on the sixteenth day of the Qatar 2022 Qualifying is “life or death” to maintain the illusion of achieving a quota for the World Cup.

In a virtual press conference, the top scorer of the qualifiers argued that those led by the Venezuelan César Farías must get up “as fast as possible” after the 4-1 defeat suffered against Venezuela on the fifteenth date to receive Chile this Tuesday in La Paz.

“This is a key game for Bolivia against a team that is very strong and forceful, that in recent years has grown a lot and we know that it is going to be a game of life or death for Bolivia, so we are prepared for what comes”, he stated.

Martins stated that the responsibility of a striker is always to score, whether as a visitor or at home, and that he is “highly concentrated” to contribute to the victory that Bolivia wants.

“Regardless of whether it’s my goals or not, I want to win, that’s my thought now, I want to come out with the three points and I’m going to try to leave everything so that this can happen in this match”, he added.

The gunner lamented the “hard blow” which meant the defeat against Venezuela due to the preparation they had and that was not reflected in the result, but he pointed out that the squad will continue “fighting for that dream” to go to the World Cup.

Bolivia will receive Chile this Tuesday, directed by the Uruguayan Martín Lasarte, in which it will be a duel of teams urgent for a victory to stay in the race for the ticket to Qatar 2022.

La Verde is in eighth place in the standings with 15 points and La Roja is seventh with 16.
