Edison Flores surpassed Pizarro and Solano among the top Peruvian scorers in Qualifying

With his decisive goals against Colombia and Ecuador, edison flowers became the fifth all-time top scorer in the peruvian national team in the playoffssurpassing other prominent former members of the national team.

After scoring in Barranquilla and tonight in the Nacional, the popular ‘Orejitas’ now has seven wins in the contest (five heading to Russia 2018 and 2 to Qatar 2022). With this mark he surpasses Nolberto Solano and Claudio Pizarro, who have six goals in more qualifying processes.

Pizarro played five Qualifiers (Cora-Japan 2002, Germany 2006, South Africa 2010, Brazil 2014 and Russia 2018), while Solano, now assistant coach of the bicolor, played four World Cup qualifiers (France 98 and the following three).

Flores is only surpassed on the select list by Christian Cueva (9), Roberto Palacios (9), Paolo Guerrero (10) and Jefferson Farfán (16), respectively.

With five conquests, Juan Carlos Oblitas, current sports director of the FPF, ranks eighth. Then Jorge Soto (5), Pedro Pablo ‘Perico’ León (4) and André Carrillo appear.
