Sergio Peña referred to Santiago Ormeño: “Maybe he scores a goal on the other date and they love him”

The Peruvian National Team faced Ecuador with some variants in the offensive, before the casualties of Gianluca Lapadula due to injury and Christian Cueva due to suspension. One of those chosen to lead the attack was Santiago Ormeño, who ultimately did not have an outstanding development and was criticized by the fans.

Given this circumstance, Sergio Peña decided to come out in defense of the striker and sent a forceful message. “It is normal, we are footballers and we are exposed to these things. It has happened to all of us”, were the first words expressed by the skillful midfielder before the press, before entering the Jorge Chávez airport.

“Sometimes people are unfair. On the next date, maybe Ormeño scores a goal and they love him, football is like that. We know about the quality that ‘Santi’ has. He is a great player, who helped us a lot and contributed to the team”, added Sergio Pena.

Lastly, the Swedish Malmö footballer highlighted the importance of the draw against Ecuador in Lima. “I think it was not a bad result. We wanted the three points and unfortunately it was not possible, but it is not that we have lost”, he sentenced.

Now, Sergio Peña will have his sights set on starting the season in the best way in the Swedish league, to get to the next double date that the ‘Blanquirroja’ will play, which will be decisive to finalize the ticket to the World Cup.
