A complicated football duel ended. The Peruvian National Team tied against Ecuador in the National Stadium of Lima, which was with 70% capacity; and, in addition to the point that the ‘Tricolor’ got, Gustavo Alfaro highlighted the quality that Ricardo Gareca has, as well as the respect that the fans had in the ‘blanquirroja’ venue.

“Really the permanence and competitiveness that Ricardo Gareca has achieved in Peru is admirable and I hope I can do the same as Ecuador”, said the coach of Ecuador for ESPN.

Alfaro took the time to praise the fans who were present at the duel for the South American Qualifiers heading to Qatar 2022: “The people of Peru were beautiful, the respect they had was unique and hopefully in all the stadiums where one is a visitor you can play a match with the civility that was seen in the National Stadium.”

Likewise, the Argentine DT added that “there was great respect from the people of Peru, encouraging their team to die but very respectful of the visitor. That is why I take my hat off to the people of Peru”.

Alfaro on the result

The coach of the ‘Tricolor highlighted in a press conference that “The point is good. We are not happy because we tied the visitors. We wanted to win the game and qualify by winning. That marks the ambition of this team. We want to play in Qatar”.

Alfaro made it clear that in the double matchday in March, in which his team will visit Paraguay and host Argentina, he will seek to finish the South American Qualifiers as “he deserves it”.
