From the Olympic gold with Brazil to Mexico: Atlético San Luis closed with coach André Jardine

Atlético San Luis closed the incorporation of a luxury coach. This is André Jardine, who last year won the gold medal with the Brazilian team in men’s soccer at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. The arrival of the 42-year-old strategist was announced through official social networks.

“André arrives at the club after having won the gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics as technical director of the Brazilian team, an achievement for which he was chosen as Coach of the Year at the 2021 Olympic Brazil awards″says the note released by the entity of San Luis de Potosí.

Along the same lines, the Liga MX club highlighted its “Extensive experience in the formation and detection of talent in the Brazilian clubs Internacional, Gremio and Sao Paulo. André will seek to contribute, not only his winning philosophy, but also generate talent from the basic forces of Potosí for the first team ”.

Atlético San Luis, after the departure of Marcelo Méndez Russo, was in contact with some coaches to take command of the professional team. According to ESPN, the board spoke with Robert Dante Siboldi, Luis Zubeldía, Héctor Altamirano and Gustavo Poyet. Finally, the Brazilian was preferred by the high command.

The agreement with Jardine was delayed because, as reported by TUDN, the professional had a link with the Brazilian Football Confederation. With the matter resolved, the winner of the Olympic gold medal joins the Mexican cast and is expected to be there for the weekend’s debut against America at the Azteca stadium.

Atlético San Luis had a discreet start in the Clausura 2022 Tournament. The team from Potosí, with the previous DT, lost the three initial games (Pachuca, Atlas and Juárez). Together with Mazatlán they occupy the basement of the table without having scored a goal and receiving four.
