The 30-year-old judoka was one of the favorites to win the gold medal in the -57 kg category. she feminine and she had the support of the local public. The French representative had managed to place herself above her rival, with a well-executed key, but the movement also caused her cell phone, which she had kept inside her judogi, to end up in the middle of the canvas. The Japanese fighter realized what had happened and warned the judge.

The referee took the target, confirmed that it belonged to Priscilla Gneto and immediately disqualified her. The Olympic medalist did not hide her regret at the elimination and she just accepted the decision. However, not everything was sad for the judoka, since she beat Enkhriilen Lkhagvatogoo (Mongolia) in the repechage and won the bronze medal, along with Sarah Cysique (France).

Japan took the gold

The grand final of the -57 kg category. Women’s Judo Grand Slam in Paris was between Japanese athletes. The first place, with the gold medal, went to Haruka Funakubo; while Momo Tamaoki, who had advanced due to the disqualification of Priscilla Gneto, obtained the silver award.
