The FA Cup is an exciting tournament and sometimes promotion teams can eliminate powerful Premier League competitors. In the round of 16, there was once again a surprising result: the historic Nottingham Forest, from the Championship, eliminated Leicester (4-1), one of their classic rivals, at home.

‘The Reds’ imposed conditions from the first part at the City Ground and provoked the anger of the ‘Foxes’ fans, who also arrived at one of the sports venue’s stands. Precisely, an unfortunate scene occurred during the first half: a fan invaded the field and attacked some players.

Everything happened on 32 minutes, after Joe Worrall’s goal, which meant the partial 3-0. A group of Nottingham Forest footballers were quietly celebrating when a Leicester fan burst onto the scene and started dishing out some punches. Djed Spence and Keinan Davis were the hardest hit.

The athletes tried to cover themselves and moved the aggressor away, who was finally arrested by those in charge of the stadium’s security. The scene went viral in just a few moments and the workers had to be more alert in the remaining minutes of the match.

After the match, Brendan Rodgers, coach of Leicester, regretted what happened: “It’s behavior you never want to see. Whatever happens on the pitch, it has to be a safe environment for the players.”. In the same way, the club apologized and reported that the board raises “life ban from all matches, both home and away”.

On the other hand, Keinan Davis, Nottingham Forest striker, sent an ironic message after the blows he received: “What a victory, although my head hurts!”. This time, the aggression did not have major consequences for the footballers, but obviously the matter will have to be studied by the authorities.
