Barcelona started LaLiga Santander badly, however, they have recovered positions thanks to the strategies of Xavi Hernández. The azulgrana team is in fourth position with 38 units and the leader, Real Madrid, is 12 points ahead.

The Blaugranas beat Atlético Madrid 4-2 on the recent day and extended their streak of seven undefeated matches in the local tournament. For that reason, the coach knows that the team is going through a great present and hopes to continue its good run against Espanyol this Sunday.

“Now we are in a good moment of form and we want to consolidate it. We don’t want the match against Atlético de Madrid to be a flash in the pan. It’s another final and another acid test.” stated Xavi in a press conference, who foresees a match “difficult, hard and very intense”.

Xavi Hernández mentioned that the team is only a few steps closer to the top of the table and stressed that his priority is to stay on top. “We don’t rule out anything in LaLiga. Our first goal is to be in the top four, but the next few games will tell everything.”he pointed.

“We will see how far we are able to go, but it is clear that we depend on the teams that are ahead and achieving that necessary regularity”, he pointed.

On the other hand, the Barça coach lamented the absence of Dani Alves for the match against Espanyol. As you remember, the Brazilian side was expelled against the ‘Colchoneros’ and LaLiga ruled him two suspension dates. “I feel bad because he is a very important player for us. We will miss him because he is giving us a lot”he expressed.
