Cesar Vallejo was eliminated by Olimpia in the first phase of the Libertadores Cup 2022. The ‘Poetas’ lost 1-0 in Lima and 2-0 in Asunción, they failed to score goals and defensive errors cost them the series.

That is why, after the elimination, the Trujillo goalkeeper, Carlos Grados, referred to the level of the Peruvian teams in international tournaments and more. “It is not only complicated for us as Vallejo, I am sure that other teams like the U and Alianza can also be complicated because we are two steps down compared to others”declared for RPP.

“’Chemo’ brought us all together and told us that we should shake off that and focus now on the Peruvian league, that this is how it is and has been happening for years with the Peruvian teams, we believe that all that has to change”he added.

Later, the goalkeeper highlighted the superiority of other teams on the continent over Peruvian clubs. “It hurts to accept the difference with teams from other countries in every way, in intensity, friction or game dynamics. Also infrastructure, budgets, to name a few things”

Finally, he referred to the Paraguayan club. “It was not the Olimpia of years ago, the one that was champion of the Libertadores, I think it is more about us and we have to correct details about us”
