Karl-Anthony Towns made history in the All Star Game: first center to win the 3-point contest | VIDEO

Karl-Anthony Towns said a few weeks ago: “I’m the best throwing center in history.” And tonight he proved it. The Minnesota Timberwolves player became the first “Big Men” in the entire history of the NBA All-Star to win the triple contest. With 29 points in the final round, KAT defeated Luke Kennard and Trae Young to win their first individual trophy in this type of competition.

The following players participated in the 2022 NBA All Star 3-point contest: Karl-Anthony Towns (Minnesota Timberwolves), Zach LaVine (Chicago Bulls), Fred VanVleet (Toronto Raptors), Trae Young (Atlanta Hawks), Desmond Bane (Memphis Grizzlies ), Luke Kennard (Los Angeles Clippers), CJ McCollum (New Orleans Pelicans) and Patty Mills (Brooklyn Nets).

The format of this contest stated that everyone would have a round of shots and the top three scorers would advance to the final round to compete for the 3-point contest trophy.

In the final, KAT was in charge of opening the round and he did it in a big way: he got 29 points before the ovation of the stadium in Cleveland. Neither Trae Young nor Luke Kennard were able to match or exceed what Towns did, establishing him as the first center in all of history to win the 3-point contest.
