The Ukrainian Tennis Federation wants to prevent Medvedev from playing in the Grand Slam

Will we see Daniil Medvedev at Roland-Garros? If it were up to Seva Kewlysh, President of the Ukrainian Tennis Federation, the answer would be no. According to ace, the latter asked the ITF to deprive the new world number 1 of Grand Slam tournaments in response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The idea being precisely to deprive Medvedev of his title of best player in the world. Image issue.

“We will let Medvedev play the ATP Tour tournaments, but the Grand Slams are ITF tournaments. If you can’t play them, you’ll never be number one […] Medvedev should not play at Roland-Garros, Wimbledon and the US Open,” Kewlysh believes.

Medvedev for peace

Daniil Medvedev spoke out last week against the war on his Twitter account. “I ask for peace in the world, peace between countries”, he wrote in particular. But at a time when the sanctions against Russian sport are raining down, it is not said that the tennis player is immune.
