Ukrainian legend Andriy Voronin has resigned from his position as technical assistant at Dinamo Moscow following Russia’s attacks on his native country. The former soccer player, who became a star at Bayer Leverkusen during his time as a player, gave an interview to explain what he felt while away from his birthplace.

“I can no longer work in the country that is bombing my homeland. We got out of Moscow before it was completely blocked. We couldn’t land in Dusseldorf, so we flew via Amsterdam. My father, my mother-in-law, my wife and my children are here now.”he pointed out in dialogue with Bill.

In the same way, he explained that he is stunned by the images he has seen. “I haven’t been feeling well for four days. I am very bad. When I see all the photos of my homeland, when I see the news, everything seems so unreal to me. It’s like a horror movie. I barely have words left”, he added.

On the other hand, he also lashed out at Russian President Vladimir Putin. “Maybe he just wants to be in the history books, but he will never be or as a criminal. Stop that son of a… and help the refugees. Send weapons so we can defend ourselves. I am very proud of our country. We have beautiful cities and great people. We’ll keep fighting and we’ll win, but the price is so high”, he explained.

“So many dead. We live in 2022 and not in World War II. I have friends in Kharkiv, in Kiev and in my hometown of Odessa. I get messages every five minutes. It’s hard to bear. I just want to help with money or whatever. I don’t know if I should say it, but if I were in the Ukraine right now, I would probably have a gun in my hand.” mentioned.
