Renato Tapia: Celta de Vigo would open a door for the Peruvian to leave at the end of the season

Renato Tapia left the Netherlands, in whose league he grew up professionally, to try his luck in Spain, in one of the most important tournaments on the planet. Thanks to his effort and dedication, the midfielder became one of the most important men in Celta de Vigo. This was recognized by the fans (they voted for him for the best of the month award) and his coach Eduardo Coudet.

However, between one campaign and another, the status of the Peruvian national team player changed dramatically. He went from being the undisputed starter to becoming a spare part for ‘Chacho’. Without going far, last Saturday (with the visit of Ricardo Gareca and Néstor Bonillo), the midfielder stayed on the substitute bench in the loss against Atlético de Madrid.

While, in the total balance, Tapia played 20 times in LaLiga: 12 as a starter and eight came from the bench. Precisely, in the duels in which he entered he could barely add 89 minutes. There is more, the Peruvian international has not been a starter in Coudet’s squad since December 17 of last year.

Thus, the newspaper Marca raised the following: “His change of situation at Celta could mean that this summer the Vigo club was open to listening to offers for a footballer who until a few months ago was indisputable for the coach”.

The case of Tapia with the Galicians has more edges. The midfielder only left the team due to an injury, sanction or after a day of FIFA. To his bad luck, his physical ills played a trick on him this year and even more so when he returned from representing the Blanquirroja in the Qatar 2022 World Cup Qualifiers.

There was even a controversy about it. ‘Chacho’ Coudet expressed his annoyance against Gareca’s technical command. “We look like a mechanical workshop that we fix Tapia to play with Peru”Said the Celtic DT after the commitments developed at the end of January and the beginning of February.

Finally, the absences of Tapia (injury or calls) were taken advantage of by Fran Beltrán. The 23-year-old Spanish player had an important progression, so Coudet trusts him more. In fact, the former Rayo Vallecano player completed 90 minutes against Atlético de Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano stadium and has played a total of 26 league games so far this season.
