Cristiano Ronaldo was absent from the match between Manchester City and Manchester United on matchday 28 of the Premier League. Without the Portuguese in the squad, the club’s fans and the media wanted to know what was the reason that left the striker out of an important appointment in the season.

Then, coach Ralf Rangnick reported that the attacker suffered a hip flexor problem on Friday. After the German’s statements, the fans and the local press expressed their doubts regarding the official version. For this reason, the DT made a clarification in the conference after the duel at the Etihad stadium.

“I have to believe my medical department. Our doctor came to see me on Friday morning before training and said that Cristiano Ronaldo could not train due to problems with his hip flexor and on the same Saturday.”reiterated the Manchester United coach on the case of the Portuguese.

Then, the DT of the ‘Red Devils’ wants to recover ‘CR7′ and Edinson Cavani in the next few days. The footballers are touched in key weeks for the future of the team. “I dont know. I was hoping to have them available for this match. We have two important games against Tottenham and Atlético de Madrid and we have to focus on that”he added.

Rangnick, after losing 4-1 against Manchester City, assessed what happened on the pitch this Sunday. “I think it was a good first half, if not decent. We were competitive. It’s tough when you concede a goal so early in the game. But we came back into the game, scored a brilliant goal but then conceded in response.”he expressed.

Along the same lines, the German DT added that “It was a very complicated game against one of the best teams in the world. He has conceded the fourth goal in the final minutes. It was a complicated match that showed that we still have a long way to go to close the differences”he indicated.

A double from Kevin De Bruyne and another from Riyad Mahrez were enough for Manchester City to win 4-1 against Manchester United. The defeat of the ‘Red Devils’ allows Arsenal to be placed in fourth position after their 3-2 victory at Watford and point towards qualifying for the Champions League.
