FIFA, the highest soccer institution in the world, released an official note regarding the violent acts between barristas from Querétaro and Atlas. This Sunday, almost a day after the incidents in Mexico, the sports entity claimed to feel “shocked” by the events at the La Corregidora stadium.

“FIFA is shocked by the tragic incident that occurred at the La Corregidora stadium in the city of Querétaro during the match between Querétaro and Atlas. The violence was unacceptable and intolerable.”starts the note published on the website and replicated in all accounts on social networks.

Immediately, the entity headed by Gianni Infantino joined the Mexican federation and the Central American confederation to request speed in the investigation process carried out by the relevant authorities. Likewise, FIFA expressed its solidarity with all those affected.

“FIFA joins the Mexican Football Association and Concacaf in condemning this barbaric incident and encouraging local authorities to quickly bring justice to those responsible. Our thoughts are with all those who suffered its consequences.”adds the statement.

In closing, the football institution reiterated that it condemns any type of violent demonstration. “Once again, FIFA would like to emphasize that violence should have no place in football and that we will continue to work with all parties to eradicate it from our game.”.

The Attorney General of the state of Querétaro reported, through its social networks, that they have opened an investigation after the events that occurred in the stands of the La Corregidora stadium in the second half of the match between Querétaro and Atlas.

In addition, the Querétaro entity maintained that “It will be reported as investigations allow”.
