A black chapter in the history of Mexican soccer was experienced last Saturday, when the Querétaro barristas faced their peers from the Atlas in the stands and on the field of the La Corregidora Stadium. The brutal event generated a negative impact in the world and the authorities of Liga MX have been analyzing sanctions.

For now there has been no official statement from the organization of the contest, but the Mexican press has been revealing some possibilities that have already been studied. The first has to do with the disaffiliation of Querétaro, which would be immediately marginalized from all competition.

David Medrano, a journalist from TV Azteca, reported on Twitter about the determinations that would be announced: “The Assembly of Owners as the highest authority of Mexican soccer in favor of the disaffiliation of Querétaro in a majority way. The forms for tomorrow’s meeting are analyzed”.

The renowned press man stressed that this provision is not yet official, although it is gaining strength and this Tuesday, March 8, there will be a new meeting for the authorities to continue discussing the measures to be taken.

In the same way, it was learned that in Liga MX they are also studying how to conclude the 2022 Closing Tournament and the modifications that could occur in the competition, given that the championship would only have 17 teams, in case the disaffiliation of Querétaro is consumed. The new format of the contest will be evaluated at the same time.

On the other hand, it is worth mentioning that Adolfo Ríos, director of the ‘White Roosters’, assured that the institution will accept the penalty it may receive and left the decision to remove the club from the league in the hands of the Mexican Football Federation.
