A real party was experienced this Tuesday at the Nacional, where the Peruvian team beat Paraguay by date 18 of the Qualifiers and secured the playoff heading to Qatar 2022. After the final whistle, El Cervecero sounded in the stadium and the public celebrated the big.

After celebrating singing “Contigo Perú” at the top of their lungs, the fans sang the popular Armonía 10 song and continued to celebrate fifth place in the qualifiers.

There were plenty of reasons to celebrate. Peru beat Paraguay 2-0 on Tuesday in Lima and won the right to play in June against an Asian team in the playoffs for the Qatar-2022 World Cup.

The winning goals for the Peruvian team were scored by Gianluca Lapadula, at 5 minutes, and Yoshimar Yotún, at 42.

The repechage is the only route available in South America after the four direct quotas to Qatar were distributed among Brazil, Argentina, Ecuador and Uruguay.

Peru will face in a single match (June 13 or 14 in Doha) the fifth-ranked team in Asia for a ticket to the World Cup.
