The classification of the Peruvian team to the playoffs to continue fighting to reach Qatar 2022 meant a great reason to be happy. Not only for the millions of fans of the ‘Blanquirroja’, but also for the architects of the achievement. One of them is Gianluca Lapadula, who shared his joy on social networks.

“One more step towards our goal! Always together! Up Peru, damn it!”were the words that the striker wrote in a post on Instagram, which was complemented by postcards from the Peruvian team and the celebration of his goal against Paraguay on Tuesday night at the National Stadium in Lima.

With his goal against the Guarani, the ‘Bambino’ reached six goals with the red and white shirt. The previous victims of Lapadula were Venezuela and Bolivia, also for Qualifiers; and in the Copa América, he scored against Colombia, Ecuador and Paraguay.

Peru is still in the race for the World Cup

Peru did what it had to: beat Paraguay this Tuesday 2-0, finished in fifth place in the South American Qualifiers and earned the right to play a playoff against the fifth in Asia for a place in the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

The Inca team will play the playoffs on June 13 or 14 in Doha against the fifth-placed team from Asia, which will be defined between the United Arab Emirates and Australia.

Those led by Ricardo Gareca finished with 24 points in fifth place and dream of accompanying undefeated Brazil (45) and Argentina (39), and Uruguay (28) and Ecuador (26), the four classified from South America, to Qatar 2022.

The strikers Gianluca Lapadula, at minute 5, and Yoshimar Yotún, at 42, made the 50,000 Peruvians who packed the National Stadium in Lima explode with excitement.
