Qatar 2022 World Cup: flags of the LGBTIQ+ community will be confiscated

7 months after the start of the world Cup Qatar 2022there are already problems in the organizing country of the world. After confirming that they will confiscate flags of the LGBTIQ+ community, last Thursday, at the FIFA congress, there was a discussion on the issue of human rights in the Middle East.

Abdulaziz Abdullah Al Ansari, Head of World Cup Security, stated that the flags of the LGBTIQ+ community could be seized for their own safety, since people could be attacked.

“If a fan shows the pride flag and I take it off, it is not because I really want to or because I want to insult him, but to protect him (…) Because if it is not me, someone else who is close can attack him. I cannot guarantee the everyone’s behavior and I’d say, ‘Please, there’s no need to show that flag right now.’”declared for AP.

“You want to show your point of view on the (LGBTQ) situation, show it in a society where it will be accepted. We understand that a person received the ticket, he comes here to see the game, not to demonstrate, a political (act) or something that is on his mind ”added Abdulaziz Abdullah Al Ansari.

WHEN IS THE WORLD CUP QATAR 2022 PLAYED?

The Qatar World Cup has a different calendar than the last world cups because it will take place in the last quarter of the year, since the climate in that country is different from the rest of the world. In June and July, the months when the World Cup is usually held, temperatures in Qatar reach 50 degrees.

That is why the Qatar 2022 World Cup will start on November 21 and end on December 18, 2022.

The group stage is scheduled from November 21 to December 2 at Al Bayt Stadium, Khalifa International Stadium, Al Thumama Stadium, Al Rayyan Stadium, Lusail Stadium, Ras Abu Aboud Stadium, Education City Stadium and Al Janoub Stadium.

The round of 16, which kicks off the second phase of the tournament, will begin on the 3rd and end on the 6th. While the quarterfinals will be on December 9 and 10. The semifinals are scheduled for the 13th and 14th, while the final will be on Sunday, December 18 at the Lusail Stadium.
