Christian Cueva on Jefferson Farfán: “If he returns to the national team, I’m going to give him the 10 shirt”

However, this has not caused him to lose his humility. Despite being a regular starter, Cueva maintains respect for players like Jefferson Farfán or Paolo Guerrero. He would even be willing to give number 10 to “Foquita” in case he returns to the national team.

Under the guidance of a personal trainer, Christian Cueva regained his best physical shape and this has been shown in the Peruvian team. The skillful midfielder is participative and it is very difficult to get the ball from him when he posts with his back to the rival defender. However, his good moment has not made him lose his humility.

In a statement collected by Gol Peru on its social networks, Cueva said the following: “Beyond the number, I will always have respect and admiration for players like Jefferson Farfán, Paolo Guerrero, Claudio Pizarro or Juan Vargas”.

Then he continued: “If Jefferson returns to the national team, I will give him the 10 jersey because I was raised that way, with gratitude. I know he enjoys wearing that shirt, so I’m going to give it to him.”

As is known, Cueva is motivated and eager to qualify for a second consecutive World Cup. To do this, together with their other teammates, they must overcome the playoffs in June.

The only match of the playoff between the teams of the different confederations will be played on June 13 of this year.

The commitment will be played in Qatar.

In November last year, FIFA held the draw to publicize the playoff matches between the confederations of AFC (Asia), CONCACAF, CONMEBOL and OFC (Oceania). In said event, it was stipulated that the South American team will duel with a team from Asia.
