Back to basics: NBA revealed the logo of the Finals with the return of the classic typography of the past decade

The NBA today unveiled a revamped logo for the NBA Finals presented by YouTube TV, bringing back the iconic typeface used in the 1986-95 and 2004-17 logo variations. As you remember, the league decided to change the logo in recent years, causing negative comments on social networks. The announcement has been celebrated by the fans, who hope that their teams manage to reach said instance in June.

The modernized logo incorporates the fan-favorite typeface along with the Larry O’Brien trophy to honor the league’s 75-year history and look to the future.

The identity also includes an updated black and gold color palette to complement the trophy and celebrate the apex of the NBA season.

The NBA Finals is the culmination of our 75th anniversary season, celebrating the past, present and future of the league”, said the Director of Marketing of the NBA, Kate Jhaveri.

Highlighted by the return of our familiar Finals script font, which returns by popular demand, our new logo pays homage to our league’s history and looks to the future”, he finished.

It should be noted that the 2022 NBA Finals will begin on Thursday, June 2 and will be broadcast on ABC.
