Edgard Benítez was “happy with the victory” and considered that “the ‘Clásicos’ are won”

Alianza Lima achieved an important victory against Universitario de Deportes as a visitor and Edgard Benítez played a notable role in the League 1 classic. The ‘Pajaro’ considered that the blue and white team came out with the mentality of winning the game.

Speaking to the press, Benitez admitted being “very happy for the win and for the way they worked to win this match. The Clásicos are won and from the beginning we went out with that mentality and we took advantage of the good footing and speed that Alianza Lima has.”

Also, I consider that the “triumph helps to excite people and ourselves beyond that we are still a bit far from the first places. Today we were all very involved and we disputed each divided ball with everything, I loved the way it was played”.

Alianza defeated Universitario by four goals to one, but for the ‘Pájaro’ the result could have been greater: “I think that although we scored four, we could have had a chance to score more goals, but we have to continue the image we left behind. In this match we showed why we are the champions”.

Finally, he admitted that they did not feel uncomfortable playing as visitors with all the fans of Universitario whistling: “When we arrived at the stadium and saw the people against us, we were convinced that today had to be a great afternoon and luckily things went well for us and we were efficient in attack. I felt very comfortable in that position, it’s a position I know well and I think that with everyone’s support we made it very difficult for the ‘U’ defense”.
