Luis Rubiales explains possible commissions for Gerard Pique and Kosmos

Forget Easter, the La Liga title or even the affairs of King Juan Carlos… At the moment, in Spain, we are only talking about Luis Rubiales, the president of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF). Monday, the media El Confidential reported, after having access to documents and private audio exchanges between Barca defender Gerard Pique and Rubiales, that the Federation had negotiated a commission of 24 million euros for Kosmos [société dirigée par Piqué] performs the operation.

As a result, this Wednesday, Luis Rubiales stepped up to the plate during a press conference: “I am very outraged by all the falsehoods that are being broadcast and very angry that priority is given to lies instead of the real problem, which is that information was illegally stolen from my phone. Rubiales explained that following a proposal from Kosmos to change the format of the Super Cup, several countries such as the United States, Qatar and China were approached until Saudi Arabia was chosen. .

No Olympics for Pique

” When they [Kosmos] come with the possibility of doing business, they are clearly told that they will not have an economic relationship with the Federation,” explained the 44-year-old leader. If there is any commission, Kosmos will have it with Saudi Arabia, so the Federation has not paid, does not pay and will not pay a single euro of commission to anyone for this operation. Rubiales added that the contract in question is now “obsolete” and has been replaced by another.

For two editions, the Spanish Super Cup has been contested with four teams, the first two of La Liga and the two finalists of the Copa del Rey. However, according to the plays, if Barça finishes second [alors qu’il est actuellement quatrième], Luis Rubiales would receive a bigger commission. If the Catalan club or Real Madrid are not present during this appointment, less money is paid to the Federation.

Gerard Pique, for his part, assured Monday, during a press conference, that “everything we have done is legal and there has been no conflict of interest”. During the audios that were unveiled, we also heard the Barça defender asking the leader to be in the group that participated in the Olympic Games. Something he didn’t get.
