Alves, on the fight for the title: “Real Madrid was lucky that we didn’t get here earlier”

Dani Alves always has something to say. After the victory over Real Sociedad in Anoeta, the Brazilian regretted that the Catalans do not have options to fight for the LaLiga title.

“Lucky we didn’t get there earlier, right? We have tried to reach. Real Madrid’s luck that we haven’t arrived before and even our luck that we haven’t arrived before. We were able to compete with them in a different way, but in the end, life is like that. We arrived late. We had to make a tremendous effort to try to get the advantage. We knew it would be very difficult because of the rival’s condition, but that’s what it’s about. We have to go for the next objective, it couldn’t be, Real’s luck that we didn’t get there before”, pointed out the multifunctional footballer.

On the other hand, Alves referred to how difficult Real Sociedad was, which Barcelona defeated 1-0, thanks to a goal from Gabonese Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

“We knew it was going to be a difficult game, it’s always very difficult here. The stadium is very tight, their team has a lot of ball pressure. The first part, we had a little; in the second half, more. Afterwards, we lowered the intensity a bit and they squeezed us. You have to know how to suffer. It costs a lot to win, but you win”, commented the athlete.

Likewise, against Movistar LaLiga, Alves acknowledged that at this point in the competition the team is suffering from wear and tear, but highlighted the group’s response.

“Physically, we are very good. What happens is that the season reaches this stage and the wear is very great, but the team is holding up very well. We knew it was important to take the three points from here. It positioned us better in the classification in view of the objective that remains for us”, he sentenced.

With the victory, Barcelona reached 63 points and is in second place, behind the leader Real Madrid, which registers 78 points and is very close to being crowned champion.
