Ancelotti plans (quickly) to retire after Madrid tenure

If the time for farewell is probably not for now, Carlo Ancelotti has hinted that Real Madrid could be his last experience on the sidelines. In any case, this is what he suggested in an interview with our colleagues from Prime Video.

“After Real yes, I will probably stop. But if Real keep me here for ten years, I will train for ten years, ”said the technician in this interview, excerpts from which were broadcast on Tuesday on the eve of the Champions League semi-final second leg on Wednesday at 9:00 p.m. against Manchester City.

Carletto, under contract at Real until 2024, was crowned Spanish champion this weekend, eleven months after his return to the controls of the Casa Blanca. He became the first coach in history to win the five major European football championships (England, Germany, Italy, Spain and France).

A family life that takes a back seat

This bon vivant, who we saw with sunglasses and a bar of chair in his mouth during the celebration of the title of champion, Saturday, in the streets of Madrid, says he wants to enjoy his family more and travel through the world. “I would like to spend time with my grandchildren, go on vacation with my wife, there are so many things that I have neglected and that I would like to do. Go to lots of places I’ve never been, ”he explains at the microphone of Prime Video.

“I’ve never been to Australia, I’ve never been to Rio de Janeiro. Go see my sister more often. Unfortunately we can’t do everything and so the day I stop, I will have all these things to do”, continued the three-time Champions League winner as coach with AC Milan (2003, 2007) and the Real Madrid (2014).

Carletto still has the fangs

Assistant to Italian coach Arrigo Sacchi during the Nazionale epic until the 1994 World Cup final, Ancelotti did not, however, rule out ending his career by taking the reins of a national team. “Yes, there could be a national team but it’s premature for the moment,” he argued, without ruling out coaching at the 2026 World Cup in North America (Canada, United States, Mexico ).

And the hypothesis of leading the selection of Canada recently qualified for the 2022 World Cup, while his wife is Canadian, is not to displease him: “Why not? I would love to, that’s for sure. Canada has done things very well” lately, he said. If we summarize, the Mister announces that his time is approaching but that he is absolutely not about to hang up.
